A subway originally constructed to ease pedestrians in the heart of Pune, now stands closed on JM Road. This underpass was originally constructed by a private construction company, ABIL, in the name of its founder, GM Bhosle. Once handed over to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), this pass faced problems of maintenance and misuse by citizens, forcing the PMC to close it. With the biennale, this pass is to be reopened, with the hope this existing infrastructure may come to be used, even so many years after its making. At the same time, the use of the underpass introduces the figure of the stroller, another form of cohabitation in the context of the city, and alludes to precarious living conditions in metropolitan India.
